'When box office champ Ben Stiller''s comedic performances aren''t a variation on a soft-spoken, put-upon everyman with an eventual fuse, he''s usually playing a full-blown absurdist monster with an apoplectic Napoleon complex. These bizarre creations usually adorn films in which the funnyman provides the supporting work (DODGEBALL, HEAVYWEIGHTS), but, whenever he''s directing, he''s free to build an entire filmic universe around his asinine, ludicrously funny, culture-skewering characters and premises. His ZOOLANDER (2001) bit at the entertainment industry with silly abandon, but Stiller has firmly set TROPIC THUNDER within the realm of sophisticated Hollywood satire. In it, a desperate director named Damien Cockburn (Steve Coogan) trying to make a Vietnam war movie drops his pampered actors into the heart of the jungle. Cockburn''s stars include Stiller as an action hero who''s starting to make bad career choices, Jack Black as an insecure low-brow comedy star going through heroin withdrawals, and Robert Downey Jr. as an Australian Oscar winner so lost in his ''craft'' he underwent a procedure to become black for his role. In the jungle, they remain under the delusion that they are still being filmed even after they encounter a dangerous gang of drug lords. The film''s basic premise has popped up several times since Hollywood''s 1970s golden age in films such as THREE AMIGOS! and GALAXY QUEST. Where those films simply blanketed a classic Overconfident Bumbling Idiot comedy showcase with a pop culture lexicon, however, TROPIC THUNDER could have only been made, as on-the-nose at is, by people who have been working in the Hollywood system for years, making cutting observations along the way. Simply put, this raucous satire knows big-budget filmmaking, the delusional narcissism of actors, and even the good points of those actors--perhaps why they''re celebrated--like the back of its hand. 'An all-star cast highlights THE HINDENBURG, an imaginative, stylish suspense thriller that attempts to shed light on the 1937 disaster of the Nazi blimp that exploded over New Jersey, killing 36 people on board. In the intricately woven plot, Colonel Ritter (George C. Scott), assisted by Nazi partisan Martin Vogel (Roy Thinnes), is assigned by the German government to make certain no one sabotages the Hindenburg on its way to New York. Also on board are card sharks Emilio Pajetta (Burgess Meredith) and Major Napier (Rene Auberjonois), who spend the voyage trying to fleece gullible passengers. 'Writer/director Joshua Michael Stern (NEVERWAS) tackles American politics in his second feature film. Bud Johnson (Kevin Costner) is just your below-average Joe. He works in an egg factory, likes to knock back a few too many beers, and is a single parent to 12-year old Molly (Madeline Carroll), a bright spitfire who does her best to keep her dad on the straight and narrow. Patriotic Molly insists that apathetic Bud do his civic duty and vote in the upcoming presidential election, a tight race between Republican incumbent Andrew Boone (Kelsey Grammer) and Democratic candidate Donald Greenleaf (Dennis Hopper). Soon the media and both candidates descend upon Bud''s hometown of Texico, New Mexico, when it''s determined that his vote wasn''t counted and will decide the outcome of the entire presidential election. Now that Bud is a ''somebody''--there''s even a ''Bud Cam'' capturing his every move--will he be swayed by visits to Air Force One and the ''Bud Ball'' held in his honour, or will he be the voice of the American people and vote for the better candidate? The lengths the candidates go to in order to win Bud''s vote are high points of the film, as they find themselves supporting initiatives that are completely opposed to their platforms at the urging of their campaign managers, played by Stanley Tucci and Nathan Lane. Grammer is well cast as Boone, and it''s a hoot to see counterculture icon Hopper in this light. Costner makes Bud likable despite the loser stereotype he personifies. But this film belongs to Carroll, a lovely young actress who can steal a scene with one look. If nothing else, SWING VOTE is a reminder that even though politics may be a game, every single vote really does count.'

'This wild tale showcases Jackie Chan''s skills and charm as he plays both Meng Yi, a Qin Dynasty general, and as the same character''s reincarnation, Jack Lee. Lee is an archaeologist, but spends much of his time experiencing strange memories from his past life. With an unusual and complex plot that interweaves many disparate elements, this is certainly a departure from Chan''s typical work.'

When von Richthofen and Voss discover a Canadian pilot, Capt. Roy Brown (Joseph Fiennes), who has been stranded in German territory, they rescue the flier rather than leave an enemy soldier to die, and while bringing him to safety Manfred meets Kaete Otersdorf (Lena Headey), a military nurse who has devoted her life to helping those wounded by war. Manfred becomes deeply infatuated with Kaete, but while she is also taken with him, she cannot abide his open embrace of the blood sport of war, and even as he becomes one of Germany''s most decorated pilots, downing nearly eight enemy planes, he comes to understand the true horror of war and the consequences of his actions. von Richthofen gains an even greater perspective on war when he encounters Capt. 'He''s the star of the show - but he doesn''t know. Jim Carrey wowed critics and audiences alike as unwitting Truman Burbank in this marvel of a movie from director Peter Weir about a man whose life is a non-stop TV show. Gradually, Truman gets wise. And what he does about his discovery will have you laughing, crying and cheering like few film stories ever have.'
'Grease was a phenomenal hit with its target teenage audience when it was released in 1977. The songs dominated the pop charts and brought heady success for its lead actors, John Travolta (Danny) and Olivia Newton-John (Sandy) despite the fact that--as with their energetic co-stars--their own teenage years were some way behind them. As they seize the chance to relive their schooldays, their verve and enthusiasm explodes from the screen. The real class, though, comes from Stockard Channing as feisty Rizzo and, in a couple of cameos, wisecracking silver screen actresses from yesteryear Eve Arden and Joan Blondel.Based on the 1972 stage show and adding several new numbers, Grease is at heart a rites-of-passage movie with plenty of feel-good moments and a euphoric buzz. You''re the One That I Want , Hopelessly Devoted to You and Summer Nights became the soundtrack for a generation of high-school students on the cusp of adulthood. Today, it looks like a pastiche of those 1950s Connie Francis rock & roll beach films. But the steady stream of double entendres and knowing body language render it more accessible to the less innocent late 1970s. It''s overwhelming nostalgia for anyone in the vicinity of 40.The 25th anniversary special edition of Grease rolls back the years: the 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen presentation transports you instantly back to fifth-form heaven in the local fleapit. The Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound ensures that the songs--ever the staple of MOR radio--complete the nostalgia trip with real zip. The main extra is a short series of fond reminiscences from the actors and director Randal Kleiser, actually filmed for the 20th anniversary. --Piers Ford'

It is best known for its popularization of the folklore creatures known as y kai, a class of spirit-monster to which all of the main characters belong. It has been adapted for the screen several times, as anime, live-action, and video games. A new anime series has been made every decade since 1968. Kitaro (Eiji Wentz) is a yokai whose parents both died before he was born. Actually, to be more accurate he crawled out of his mother s dead-and-buried corpse and emerged from her grave, but obviously the movie doesn t get too in-depth in that sort of explanation. In order to protect Kitaro, his father gathered up what little life essence he had left and emerged as a single walking, talking eyeball called Medama Oyaji. Kitaro lives in a secluded tree house with other yokai, trying to remain as unseen to human eyes as possible. However, one day Kitaro receives a letter from a little boy named Kenta Miura (Ruka Uchida) begging for his help to get rid of the ghosts haunting his apartment complex. Kitaro decides to investigate the situation, and sure enough he finds a group of mischievous yokai tormenting the residents of the complex, working under the orders of Nezumi Otoko (literally Rat Man ). Rat Man is a shifty, selfish yokai who s always looking for a way to make a quick buck, so when a land developer offered him cash to force people out of the apartment complex he jumps at the chance.

When he attempts to test the invention himself, he is unwittingly joined by a companion - a fly that has sneaked into the transportation pod with him. ''Return of the Fly'' (1959) sees the original scientist''s son reconstructing the matter transporter which turned his father into an insect, with the young man''s experiments leading him down the same insectoid path. In ''Curse of the Fly'' (1965) the plot again revolves around the Delambre family, although this time it is the scientist''s grandson, Henri Delambre (Brian Donlevy), who becomes obsessed with transporter experiments to the dismay of his two sons, who want to live normal lives and forget about their grandfather''s invention. Henri''s oldest son, Martin (George Baker), marries a young woman who just escaped from a mental hospital.
